30 NOVEMBER 2012
Jim and the crew won the trophy in 2010 with the Ford Falcon Sprint,
But Jim had another classic that made his eye glint.
Over the months, through ups and downs and lots of unravelling,
A beauty was procured, a sleek AMX Javelin.
Bruce and the boys put in the sweat toil and hours,
It sometimes seems like these garage monkeys, have magic powers.
Because the puzzle was finally put together,
And at Calder, Jim wound the Javelin up in very slippery conditions and weather.
The old girl showed promise, right from the first outing,
A few more tests she might be ready to give a clouting.
March 2012 flew in so quick,
The Javelin was rolled out sparkling, beautiful and slick.
Unveiled at the Clipsal 500 adorned in the Shannons livery,
She attacked the track without coaxing or bribery.
But in qualifying, Mick Wilson spun cutting the session short,
Yet the green and white bullet still managed to position 4th.
According to Jim, a change of rear or front springs,
Might stop the corner juddering and give her more sting
So shine her up boys, tighten the nuts let the Javelin pass the post,
With power, glory and guts..
